Job Title: Administrative Assistant   
Department: Executive   
Reports To: Executive Vice President
Starting Salary: Commensurate with Experience plus Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and AD&D benefit Coverages

The mission of the Christian Research Institute is to provide Christians worldwide with carefully researched information and well-reasoned answers that encourage them in faith and equip them to intelligently represent it to people influenced by ideas and teachings that assault or undermine orthodox, biblical Christianity.

SUMMARY
Provide administrative assistance and perform highly diversified tasks requiring comprehensive knowledge of the Christian Research Institute’s policies and procedures in support of the Executive Department to ensure the maximum effectiveness of the department's efforts and that the goals of the ministry are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include the following, however, other duties may be assigned from time-to-time:

Responsible to God to maintain an exemplary Christian life and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintaining a courteous Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of the Christian Research Institute.

Adheres to the Christian Research Institute statement of faith.

Maintain department calendar; arrange meetings with employees and constituency, make travel arrangements and schedule appointments.

Place, receive, screen and refer telephone calls to appropriate personnel.

Respond to highly diversified inquiries from management, employees, constituents and the general public.

Regularly interface with other departments and agencies outside the ministry to exchange information, answer inquiries, act on problems, secure cooperation or approval on actions to be taken.

Compile and analyze information requested, draft replies and/or transcribe correspondence for signature.

Prepare memorandums outlining and explaining administrative procedures and policies to supervisory workers and monitors compliance.

Assist in preparation of records such as agenda, notices, minutes, and resolutions for corporate meetings.

Assist in preparation and filing of corporate legal documents with government agencies to conform with statutes.

Create and maintain database and spreadsheet files.

Arrange complex and detailed travel plans and itineraries and compile documents for travel-related meetings.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The ideal candidate would be considered for supervising the clerical staff.  If added, responsibilities would include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at a high degree of proficiency. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write correspondence using strong grammar and spelling skills.  Ability to present effectively information and respond to questions.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals and reference books. Above-average computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to present effectively information and respond to questions from managers, donors, vendors and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Notary Public designation desirable, but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to operate a computer terminal and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
